Armed Men Force Syrian Hospital Staff To Kneel, Shoot Man Point-Blank In Shocking New Video

The shocking video shows armed gunmen shooting one staff member of the Sweida Hospital at point-blank range, while others kneeling at gunpoint watched.

A shocking video emerged on social media, showing armed men forcing the staff of a Syrian hospital to kneel and brutally executing one of the members who attempted to fight back.

The horrifying video showed a large group in hospital uniforms kneeling at gunpoint at the Sweida Hospital. One man tried to fight back against the gunmen after he was slapped, and he was shot dead at point-blank range by two of the men.

The gunmen are reportedly members of Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa’s cabinet, with some of them part of Syria’s Defence and Interior Ministries. News18 could not independently verify these reports.

Eight months after the fall of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported the deaths of 9,889 people across the restive country from December 2024 to August 6, 2025, including 2,535 in field executions.

At least 7,449 of them are civilians, including 396 children and 541 women. At least 29 members of the Islamic State, 268 members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and affiliated military formations and 374 local gunmen are also among the casualties.

Extrajudicial Executions In Syria

SOHR said most of 2,535 people were extrajudicially executed in brutal ways, with 1,726 people killed in March, along with attacks carried out by gunmen on security and military checkpoints on the Syrian coast on March 6.

More than 1,000 of Assad’s minority Alawite sect were killed in the coastal regions of Syria and the Latakia mountains by security forces and allied groups soon after Assad’s ouster. The SOHR said they were killed in “executions" carried out by security personnel or pro-government fighters, accompanied by the “looting of homes and properties".

Earlier this year, clashes broke out between Bedouin tribes and Druze fighters, resulting in hundreds of casualties. At least 86 of those killed were field executions of Druze civilians by government fighters or allied militias, SOHR said.

The fighting prompted Syrian government forces to intervene. Druze fighters resisted their entry into the province and clashes began with Syrian government forces. The conflict further escalated after the Israeli military struck the Syrian defence ministry to protect the Druze community.

Assad served as Syria’s president for 24 years, assuming the chair in 2000 after succeeding his father Hafez al-Assad, who ruled for nearly three decades from 1971 to 2000. He was ousted in a lightning offensive by the Islamist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), bringing an end to a 14-year-old civil war.
