Apple offers its premium TV streaming service for its devices but soon you might start seeing ads like Netflix and Disney+ users.

As the streaming platforms get more viewers, the need to push ads is becoming more evident. Most popular streaming apps now have a plan that pushes ads, and even Netflix is part of the list. However, we might see another big name joining these ranks.

Apple is reportedly planning for ads in its Apple TV+ platform which is unlikely to go down well with its subscribers. The company has hired an ad executive recently, which seems to have stoked these fears and it would be surprising if Apple doesn’t follow suit and bring ads to its streaming service sooner rather than later.

We’ll probably know more about this during the Apple WWDC 2024 later this year, where the ad execs could be part of the keynote and talk about the platform and its future plans.

Streaming platforms are spending billions to create original content and they use in-house studios to come out with exclusive movies and shows that fetch eyeballs.

But the metric used to measure streaming views is negligible and it seems companies now realise the need to monetise their business and what better way than ads to push their content, keeping the platform affordable and making money on the side. Amazon, Netflix and many other streaming apps have now resorted to showing ads, while some even have ads in their premium plans.

Streaming was supposed to change the ads dynamics from regular TV feeds, but all signs suggest the old days of ads on the big screen and your small screen are coming back in a big way, which most people are surely not going to like.
