Russian President Vladimir Putin said the conflict in Ukraine “would never have started" if Donald Trump had been the US President in 2022, during their first in-person meeting in five years held in Alaska.
Putin backed Trump’s claim that his presence could have stopped the conflict from starting, saying, “I can confirm that."
Their meeting in Alaska was described by both leaders as constructive, with Putin referring to the venue as “a logical venue given our countries’ shared history."
