US President Donald Trump and Russia's Vladimir Putin
US President Donald Trump sharply criticised Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling his overtures “meaningless" and accusing him of misleading behavior amid Russia’s escalating war in Ukraine. Donald Trump said at the White House, “A lot of people are dying and it should end. We get a lot of bullshit thrown at us by Putin- you want to know the truth. He’s very nice all the time, but it turns out to be meaningless."
The comments come as Donald Trump authorized the resumption of US defensive weapons shipments to Ukraine, following warnings from Kyiv that delays were leaving the country vulnerable to intensified Russian airstrikes.

“They’re getting hit very hard now," Donald Trump earlier said, adding, “We’re going to have to send more weapons- defensive weapons, primarily. They have to be able to defend themselves."
Pentagon Confirms New Arms For Kyiv
The Pentagon confirmed it would send new defensive military aid to Ukraine at the US President’s direction. Though no specifics were given, the package is expected to bolster Ukraine’s ability to repel missile attacks and sustain battlefield defenses. Donald Trump last week said Ukraine would likely need Patriot missile systems as Kyiv requested more of the systems- key to protecting its cities and infrastructure from Russian airstrikes.
Zelenskyy, Germany In Talks For Air Defense
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who spoke with Trump by phone on Friday, said the two discussed air defense, joint arms production, and investment. He stressed Ukraine’s urgent need to “defend the sky" as Russian attacks intensify. Meanwhile, Germany announced it is in talks to help supply Patriot systems to Ukraine to bridge the gap.
Donald Trump-Putin Call
Earlier, Donald Trump expressed deep frustration over his recent phone call with Vladimir Putin, calling the conversation “very unhappy." The US President said, “It’s a very tough situation… He wants to go all the way, just keep killing people- it’s no good.
Donald Trump also hinted that new sanctions against Moscow may be imminent, revealing that he and Vladimir Putin discussed the issue “a lot" during their call.
