Two jawans from Assam Rifles were killed and four injured when unidentified gunmen fired shots at their vehicle in Manipur’s Bishnupur district on Friday.
The incident took place at around 6 pm when Assam Rifles personnel were heading from Imphal towards Bishnupur.
According to Manipur Police sources, A group travelling in a car launched an attack on an Assam Rifles team at Nambol Sabal Leikai under Nambol Police Station.
“The assailants first opened fire on a 407 Tata vehicle carrying Assam Rifles personnel from Imphal towards Bishnupur, killing one personnel on the spot. Other injured personnel were rushed to the hospital for treatment. The attackers later targeted the troops directly during the assault in which two jawans were martyred and 4 were injured," sources said.
