The Pakistan government is reportedly considering allowing Dr Uzma Khan, one of former prime minister Imran Khan’s sisters, to meet him in jail, top establishment sources told News18.

According to the top Pakistan establishment sources, Uzma Khan is being allowed because she is a medical doctor. This comes amid heightened international scrutiny and national security concerns surrounding Imran Khan’s “custodial secrecy".

The authorities’ reconsideration has been forced by growing scrutiny, human-rights queries, and significant international attention concerning Khan’s detention. Intelligence sources indicate that Islamabad is seeking to project a “selective humanitarian gesture", particularly before anticipated parliamentary decisions. The move comes only after sustained pressure from the Khan family and legal teams, who have been campaigning against his alleged near-isolation, harsh treatment, and denial of regular access to close family. Other sisters are still unlikely to be cleared due to security and sensitivity reasons.

If Dr Uzma Khan is permitted entry, the meeting will be brief, heavily supervised, and strictly without phones, sources confirmed. Officials are determined to prevent any immediate public disclosures about Imran Khan’s physical and mental condition. Security agencies are concerned that if all sisters were allowed to meet him, revelations of his condition may trigger a TLP style public reaction on the streets.

This potential visit follows closely after Imran Khan’s other sister, Aleema Khan, escalated charges against the government. Aleema Khan recently accused the country’s government of a “pre-planned political vendetta" against her family and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. She alleged that authorities are weaponising state institutions to silence Khan’s family and PTI, describing the persecution as extending into the financial realm through “economic strangulation". Aleema Khan stated that her bank accounts were closed “without any verdict," judicial direction, notice, or due process. She warned that these measures are part of a “broader crackdown aimed at crippling PTI leadership". Her charges followed a recent, high-profile sit-in outside Adiala Jail, which was eventually called off after police assured that meetings with the former PM would be arranged.

Intelligence reports suggest the Pakistan government is “acting out of fear" due to “rising anger over Imran Khan’s alleged torture and isolation inside jail". Authorities are particularly worried that this public dissent could escalate into a political and law and order challenge in key regions, specifically Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The regime also seeks to “eliminate all public voices questioning Imran Khan’s health".
