PUNE: People who want to be registered as a writer or reader in order to assist children with special needs during their board examination can register their names till March 31, said an official notification from the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education on Saturday.

‘The State Council for Educational Research and Training, Maharashtra, Pune has provided the link to create a writer / reader bank and the deadline for registration is 31st March 2021,’ read the notification.

Higher Secondary Certificate (Class XII) and Secondary School Certificate Examination (Class X) is conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.

'Children with special needs are allowed the facility of a reader/writer to assist them in the examination and the headmaster of the respective school has been given the right to appoint a student of a previous class or a senior citizen as the writer because the headmaster of the school concerned is aware of the problems and needs of the students with disabilities. The headmaster/principal of all schools and junior colleges should take care that no disabled student will be deprived of this facility prescribed in the government decision,' said the notification.
