Imran Khan supporters plan protests in Islamabad, Rawalpindi; big gatherings banned

Amid growing fears over the health of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan in jail, his supporters are set to stage large-scale protests in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi today.

In response to the planned demonstrations organised by Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, authorities have imposed Section 144 in both the cities. The protests are scheduled outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, where Khan has been held since August 2023, and the Islamabad High Court.
