Sources close to Uzma Khan said the former PM remained mentally strong and conveyed a message for his party leadership as well as for what he called an “undemocratic regime.”

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan
After weeks of restricted access, former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan’s sister Uzma Khan was allowed to meet him at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail on Tuesday.
Breaking a prolonged deadlock that had fuelled protests by PTI supporters and family members, the meeting between Imran Khan and his sister lasted 25-35 minutes, sources told CNN-News18.
Sources close to Uzma Khan told reporters that Imran Khan appeared “fine, fit, and in high spirits."
She said the former prime minister remained mentally strong and conveyed a message for his party leadership as well as for what he called an “undemocratic regime."
However, the sources said that Imran Khan also alleged that Pakistan’s army chief, General Asim Munir, was responsible for the “mental torture" he claims to be undergoing in prison.
Uzma Khan, speaking after the meeting, said Imran was angry about certain issues related to jail administration, though she reaffirmed that his “morale remained high".
Uzma’s visit came as PTI staged demonstrations outside both the Islamabad High Court and Adiala Jail, denouncing what they described as unlawful curbs on Imran Khan’s visitation rights.
The party and the family had repeatedly complained that despite a court order allowing twice-weekly meetings, access had been blocked for several weeks.
Her visit also followed a period of heightened tension, including a contempt petition filed by Imran’s sister Aleema Khan against Adiala Jail officials for allegedly defying court directions that mandated family and legal access.
PTI Shares Imran Khan’s Message
PTI issued a detailed statement on Monday shortly after party founder Imran Khan met his sister, Uzma Khan, at Adiala Jail.
The party reiterated its long-held position that the former prime minister has been “arbitrarily detained" for 850 days and is being held under what it describes as “inhumane" conditions.
According to PTI, Khan conveyed a series of strong messages during the meeting, alleging severe restrictions and mistreatment inside the prison.
The party claims he has been kept in “prolonged solitary confinement, denied access to sunlight, electricity, clean water, medical care, and at times not allowed contact with family or legal counsel."
The statement quoted Khan as saying that the “military establishment" is responsible for his situation.
He alleged that intelligence agencies control all aspects of his imprisonment and warned that if any harm comes to him, he holds the “Army Chief and the Director General of the ISI responsible."
Khan also alleged that efforts were being made to transfer his cases to military courts, stating that the charges against him would not stand in civilian courts.
PTI further quoted him as saying he had been kept in conditions comparable to those of death-row inmates and that he had experienced periods without electricity and confinement “in a cage."
Despite these conditions, the former prime minister reportedly reiterated his refusal to negotiate or compromise, telling his sister he intends to continue what he described as a struggle for constitutional rights and political freedoms.
The party also claimed Khan accused the current military leadership of imposing “dictatorial rule" and undermining the Constitution. PTI emphasised that these remarks reflect Khan’s personal statements from jail.
The military and government have not yet issued a response to the latest allegations.
